JPMA 2005 New Design Award for Development of P/M Parts for PCS (Pre-Crash Safety) for Mitsubishi Materials Corporation

These parts are used for the seat belt volume removing device corresponding to PCS (Pre-Crash Safety) system of the car, and it is composed of five parts.
In this usage, it is for the safety system mechanism that kept the life, and the reliability securing as parts is problems.
The reliability of the plating for rust prevention was a problem for securing the operation in the emergency. This item has newly developed resin method of the filling rate 100% when plating was preprocessed, and excluded the remainder of the plating liquid to the pore completely.
About gear strength, the difference of the density could be suppressed below 0.05g/cm3, aim at making properly also by the transportation on the way of the process, and stabilize tooth strength of end-products.
Moreover, 6.9-7.0g/cm3 in the density in the normal temperature molding was achieved by raising the rigidity of the metal mold and the tool holder in the pinion gear which durability is demanded for.
Compacting which causes less burrs by the tools chamfering shape of all circumferences and a proper setting of the tools clearance in Pawl, for which the sliding characteristic was necessary, were made. Moreover, the device was added to the deburr processing.
Application to the seat belt winding up parts corresponding to PCS system strongly demanding the reliabilities to the parts was achieved.
